During Holy Week we celebrate the “high holy days” of our Catholic faith – the Triduum – on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. These are the most important liturgies of the church year! This is the week when everything else stops so that we can focus on the Dying and Rising of Christ. We invite you to make these evenings a sacred priority so that you are able to participate fully in these very special liturgies.
On Holy Thursday our evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper will begin at 7:00 PM.
Following the Thursday evening Mass, we will have prayer before the Blessed Sacrament until 10PM It’s a wonderful time to stay and pray, or you may wish to come back later to pray. We will have a time of quiet prayer until midnight. Plan to do what Jesus asked of his disciples: “Stay and pray with me.”
Lord, grant us your strength and wisdom, that we may seek to follow your will in all things.
On Good Friday we pray the Stations of the Cross at Noon. Please join us as we pray and contemplate each of the 14 Stations of the Cross, Christ’s journey to his crucifixion.
At 7:00 PM we will celebrate the Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion. This is a powerful and moving liturgy. Following the ancient tradition of the Church, there are no sacraments celebrated on Good Friday. The altar is completely bare, with no cloths, candles nor cross. We should try to take time off from work and school to participate in the devotions and liturgy of the day as much as possible.
