A quote from our Patron Saint of Confirmation, St. Madeleine Sophie Barat.
“We possess within ourselves all the gifts of the Holy Spirit: we have been clothed with them by the sacrament of Confirmation. But it is for us to develop them and make them bear fruit. Let us work then with courage and perseverance at the task of our perfection. Let us ask the Holy Spirit, above all, for the gift of fortitude so necessary in order to fulfill our vocation
Adult Confirmation Testimonies:
During the preparation of confirmation class, it gave me a chance to think about my baptismal promise and about what it means to me in my life as a Christian. The most memorable part of the Rite is that I’ve been blessed with oil on the forehead by the bishop. Ever since that moment, I began to feel closer to God and to grow up spiritually. Also, I have found myself praying more. Nowadays, I’m more aware of the Holy Spirit’s presence in my life and I feel very blessed by God. God bless you. ~Hannah, confirmed spring 2010
Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA)
Are you interested in the Catholic faith? We most often have a group of people forming in September and receiving the Sacraments of Initiation around Easter of the following year. There are additional opportunities to become connected with the Church throughout the year. We welcome an opportunity to visit with you and discuss your hopes for your faith journey. Please contact Loretta Sursely our RCIA Coordinator.
If you are planning a wedding, please contact the church at least six months in advance of the date you have in mind. Parish registration is required 6months prior to booking a date. It is most efficient to contact the church BEFORE making reception commitments. In this way a couple may be made aware of the dates and times available for weddings, whether a Mass or the wedding ceremony itself.
The wedding preparation itself consists of the taking of a Catholic assessment, after the results of this assessment have been processed, a feedback session is scheduled. The option is available for instruction is a weekend retreat called Engaged Encounter.
We can facilitate all of this for couples living in the parish and being married at another Catholic Church as well as those wishing to be married at St. Madeleine’s. Please keep in mind that it is not possible for a priest or deacon of this archdiocese to preside at a wedding outdoors or at a location other than a Catholic Church.
Please contact Sandi Bendix at 425-747-6770 ext 103 or sandi@stmadsophie.org to begin the process.
The Sacrament of the Sick is administered after the 9:00 am weekday Mass on the first Friday of every month. Visits and communion to the sick or homebound are part of our pastoral care ministry.
Eastside Catholic Hospital Ministry covers all calls for Sacramental attention during evening and weekend hours. You may access the Chaplain’s office by calling 425-655-3200.
