Baptism

Baptism in the Catholic Church is the first sacrament of initiation in our lifelong journey of commitment and discipleship to Jesus. Baptism is the Church’s way of celebrating and enacting the embrace of God.

At Mass, when we receive the consecrated bread and wine, we partake in the real Body and Blood of Jesus Christ and participate in his one sacrifice.

For Children baptized in the Catholic faith, Christian Initiation of Children begins with a conversation with our Children and Family Ministries  Team about where your child and your family is on your faith journey. Contact  Elaine Low for more information.
 

Confirmation

Confirmation strengthens baptismal grace.  The essential rite of the sacrament is the anointing with the Sacred Chrism oil.

Sacraments of Healing

Reconciliation (Penance)

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is the first of two sacraments of healing. The Catechism of the Catholic Church uses different names for the sacrament: Penance, sacrament of conversion, confession, forgiveness and Reconciliation.When we commit sins, we distance ourselves from God. Through this Sacrament, our sins are forgiven and our relationship with God restored. Confession is available every Saturday from 4pm-5:30pm.

Anointing of the Sick

Anointing of the Sick is a sacrament of healing. In this sacrament a priest anoints the sick with oil blessed specifically for that purpose. Along with prayer, anointing unites one with the Risen Christ.

Matrimony

Matrimony is a sacrament that establishes a permanent and exclusive bond, sealed by God.  It provides grace for the spouses to attain holiness in their married life and for the responsible acceptance and upbringing of their children.  St. Madeleine Sophie Parish provides our Marriage Preparation program for couple seeking union in the Catholic Church.

Holy Orders

Holy Orders is the Sacrament by which a man is made a bishop, a priest or a deacon and thus dedicated to be an image of Christ.  To become a priest, a man completes a seminary program that includes graduate level philosophical and theological studies, spiritual direction and apostolate experience. Then this sacrament confers the power to celebrate the sacraments, especially in saying Mass.
