St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Madeleine Sophie meets the 1st Tuesday of each month at 7pm in the Parish office.
As the principal person-to-person, charitable hands and heart of our parish, the volunteers of St. Vincent de Paul reach out and respond to those in our area who are in greatest financial need. The St. Vincent de Paul Society is a worldwide movement of parish volunteer groups. Members respond to all who need help and are living within the boundaries of the parish, without regard to race or religious denomination.
We continue to see more and more people each year who need help. We have had a 16% increase in the number of visits made in recent years. We always go out in pairs to make home visits, and we go year round. There is both lots of pain and joy in what we do. We are always comforted in knowing we are doing the work of Christ. This really is a ministry for people who enjoy working with others and have compassion for the poor.Thank you to all of our members each of whom are directly involved in making these home visits.
The Society is able to help our community’s most needy through your generous donations to the Thanksgiving Day and Holy Thursday collections, a portion of the Matthew 25 Fund and the Catholic Community Services Rebate, and from proceeds from the Tom Widden Fund (set up from an Auction fund-an-item).
